ABE Enterprises

G-STEP is collaborating with the Association of Building Engineers Enterprises to provide information and knowledge exchange around the uses of Earth Observation Data for experts in the building services.  See our case study on Managing the Built Environment for an example application.


G-STEP will be providing training opportunities for interested members of the profession.

AEA and Sky News

G-STEP is working with world leading energy and climate change consultancy AEA to provide earth observation satellite imagery of current events around the world for international news broadcaster Sky News.

BlueSky

In an exciting joint project with local company Bluesky G-STEP has provided the expertise to automate the mapping of trees using Earth Observation techniques. See our case study on Automated Tree Mapping for more details.

DORIS_net

G-STEP is the East Midlands contact point for DORIS_net (Downstream Observatory organised by Regions active In Space – Network).

DORIS_net is a two-year FP7 project launched on 1 February 2010. The Downstream Observatory will facilitate links between both regional and European level GMES stakeholders. It is organised by regions that are members of NEREUS (Network of European Regions Using Space Technologies) with the aim of fostering downstream activities and links with regions.

EADS Astrium

In a joint project with EADS Astrium, G-STEP has provided information on the commercial potential for data streams collected from a new satellite system - AstroSAR-Lite. Dr K Tansey and Professor H Baltzer from the University of Leicester Geography Department are working with Ian Encke of EADS Astrium to explore the potential of this SAR forest monitoring system.

NEREUS

G-STEP collaborates with NEREUS (Network of European Regions Using Space Technologies) to utilise outreach opportunities in Europe.

NEREUS President Alain Bénéteau outlines how the Network’s activities can facilitate dialogue with policy makers and communication between regional users and providers in this statement.

Soil Cycle

SoilCycle provides a land restoration and soil improvement service for brownfield sites – creating fertile topsoil using recycled soil-forming materials. G-STEP provided consultation in the use of computer based mapping tools and GIS software in order to improve their business model.
