About G-STEP
G-STEP is the GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) – Space Technology Exchange Partnership. It is the first GMES accelerator initiative in the UK; visit the GMES page for more information on G-STEP within the context of GMES. G-STEP was launched on the 19th June 2009 to support business and public sector organisations in the use of state-of-the-art earth observation information technology. The exploitation of this technology will have a major impact on business operations and competitiveness.
The G-STEP team is a collaboration between core G-STEP innovation team and the University of Leicester’s earth observation experts, providing access to world renowned cutting edge Earth Observation research. G-STEP has a small team of full-time dedicated staff to facilitate the interface between the University of Leicester’s earth observation expertise and the needs of businesses, especially SME’s, in the East Midlands and beyond. The G-STEP team includes three dedicated earth observation scientists who investigate solutions for clients.

G-STEP is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through EMDA (East Midlands Development Agency), the Leicestershire Economic Partnership (now Prospect Leicestershire) and the University of Leicester.
